At least one person killed in fiery Chula Vista crash

At least one person was killed in a fiery rollover crash on a Chula Vista freeway Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported shortly after 5 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Palomar Street, according to a CHP online log.

Multiple vehicles were involved in the crash which was reported in the right-hand lanes, the log said. At least one car was reported on fire.

Officers diverted southbound traffic from the freeway onto Palomar Street while the accident was investigated.

The lanes were reopened shortly after 7:20 p.m., Caltrans San Diego reported on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.

No other information was immediately available.
