Three people were seriously injured when a suspected drunken driver crashed into a home in Lakeside early Monday, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The 39-year-old El Cajon man was driving an SUV south on Winter Gardens Boulevard south of Sterling Hill Lane around 3:05 a.m. when he lost control, went off the road and slammed into a house, said CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber.
He said the driver made “an unsafe turning movement” and the 2011 Buick Enclave ran off the road and overturned.
The driver and his two passengers, a 37-year-old man and a 41-year-old man, both from El Cajon, sustained major injuries in the crash. They were taken by ambulance to a hospital.
Grieshaber said the crash was under investigation and alcohol was suspected to be a factor. He said he did not know the extent of damage to the home or if anyone was home at the time of the crash.
