Eight people were injured when they fell from the wall along the U.S-Mexico border in the Tijuana River Valley early Saturday morning, a San Diego fire official said.
About 12:50 a.m., U.S. Customs and Border Protection asked the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department to respond to a spot near Monument Road and Hollister Street because several people had fallen from the wall, fire department spokesperson Monica Muñoz said.
Fire crews assessed several people and took eight to area hospitals. Two were seriously hurt, and the rest had injuries considered minor.
Federal border officials did not immediately supply more information.
The incident comes a week after eleven people were hurt March 2 when they fall from the border fence in Tijuana River Valley. And less than two weeks ago, a man died in a fall from the fence west of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry.
