The family of a 71-year-old woman who suffers from dementia and went missing more than a week ago is asking for the public’s help in finding her, police said Thursday.
Vivian Crowder was reported missing shortly after she walked away from outside a salon on La Mesa Boulevard near Spring Street on Oct. 29 around 10:30 a.m, Lt. Katy Lynch said. The La Mesa resident was reportedly spotted walking into a Sprouts grocery store in Lemon Grove about 3 hours later.
Police also received reports of a possible sighting near an IHOP restaurant on Balboa Avenue near Mount Abernathy Avenue on Wednesday, Lynch said.
Officials said Crowder has lived in the area a long time and is familiar with the MTS trolley system. She has lived in residences along the Imperial Avenue corridor, and in Emerald Hills and Mountain View. Officials said she is not that familiar with the La Mesa area.
She was last seen wearing a beige head wrap, blue denim jacket, blue and brown floral shirt, black stretch pants with rhinestones and turquoise shoes, Lynch said.
Investigators said Crowder does not have her medication with her, and is likely confused or will be startled if contacted by a stranger.
Police asked anyone with information about Crowder to contact the Police Department at 619-667-7537.
