The Navy has fired the leaders of two separate commands in San Diego without specifying why it took action in either case.
On Wednesday, Capt. Lester Brown Jr. was removed as commanding officer of the Navy Leadership and Ethics Command “due to a loss of confidence in his ability” to lead, the Navy said in a statement.
His role, the Navy said, had been to train and educate officers who had yet to be assigned a command and to teach developmental programs for enlisted leaders.
On Thursday, the Navy removed Cmdr. Cayanne McFarlane as commander of the Naval Information Warfare Training Group, which conducts research and testing programs that are meant to improve the Navy’s war-fighting capabilities.
The Navy said in a statement it had lost confidence in her ability to do her job.
It is not unusual for the Navy to relieve an officer of duty, but it rarely happens twice in one week in the same city.
