Callum Walsh will take on Dean Sutherland on Sunday, March 16 – the day before St. Patrick’s Day – in the main event at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, according to 360 Promotions.
The show will air on UFC Fight Pass.
Walsh, 12-0 (10 KOs), is a 23-year-old junior middleweight prospect originally from Cork, Ireland. Although Walsh lives these days in Hollywood, California, where he is trained by Freddie Roach, his nationality makes him an ideal headliner for shows timed to align with the Irish holiday.
Walsh’s second bout was on St. Patrick’s Day in 2022, though that was deep on the undercard of a show in Montebello, California. On the day before St. Patrick’s Day in 2023, Walsh performed in a main event in the much more fitting locale of Boston, Massachusetts, defeating Wesley Tucker.
This will be Walsh’s second straight year doing so in New York City. He headlined at the Theater at Madison Square Garden for a victory over Dauren Yeleussinov two days before St. Patrick’s Day in March 2024.
Since then, Walsh has notched a pair of second-round knockouts, taking out Carlos Ortiz Cervantes in June and Przemyslaw Runowski in September. He is currently ranked No. 6 by the IBF and No. 7 by the WBC.
Sutherland, 19-1 (7 KOs), is an unranked 26-year-old from Aberdeen, Scotland. His lone loss came in November 2022, when he was stopped in five rounds by the 14-3 Louis Greene. Sutherland has notched six wins since.
The main event will be supported by at least four undercard bouts also featuring Irish fighters: including Emmet Brennan, Kevin Cronin,Feargal McCrory, Thomas Carty and Donagh Keary.
Here are the fights currently scheduled for the undercard:
