Changes to the skin are a natural part of getting older, but for those who want to keep their skin healthy and hydrated as they age, anti-ageing skincare is hugely popular. Boots shoppers have found a serum that helps to target fine lines and wrinkles, and it’s now heavily discounted.
The Nip+Fab Retinol Fix Serum Extreme 3% is a concentrated serum, which usually costs £30 but it’s reduced to £10 today. The saving is part of the £10 Tuesday deal, which sees prices slashed for just one day a week. The products included in the offer change every Tuesday, so if you spot a specific product you want, you’ll have to snap it up today. Remember: it may not be that price again any time soon.
Retinol is a form of Vitamin A, which increases skin cell production, boosts collagen and can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The Nip + Fab serum has a balm-like formula, with a 3% retinol complex that penetrates the skin and helps to improve skin tone.
The ingredients list also features peptides to target fine lines and hyaluronic acid for deep hydration. The serum is designed to be used at night, working on the skin while you sleep to refresh, revitalise and plump ahead of the morning.
It is best to ease into retinol as it’s a strong ingredient, and to avoid irritation, you can work your way up to retinols with high concentrations, for example starting with a lower 0.2% serum. Or, if you’re new to retinol but want to try the Nip + Fab serum, the brand recommends limiting your use to once a week and building up to two to three times per week.
83% of Boots shoppers say they’d recommend the retinol product, with many recommending it for ageing skin. One shopper said: ”Excellent product for menopausal skin. I’m heading towards 60 and this serum has made a huge difference to fine lines and created a smoother-looking skin.”
Another commented: ”I love this serum, in the space of three days my 69-year-old skin has improved so much, the sun damage has lessened so much, and the age lines have already reduced, this stuff really is totally amazing! I will never waste my money on other products that cost a fortune and don’t work! Nip & Fab is the only place I will ever buy from again! Fabulous!”
However, a third shopper added: ”I found this serum a bit sticky when it first goes on but it smells lovely (a bit like banana) and my skin feels nice the next morning. I haven’t noticed a huge difference in my skin just yet though.’
To ease into retinol with a lower concentration of the ingredient, the Retinol 0.5% in Squalane serum from The Ordinary is a moderate-strength product, that improves the appearance of fine and dynamic lines with added hydration from highly moisturising ingredient squalane. It costs just £7.80, so it offers a more affordable entry point into anti-ageing skincare.
Express.co.uk Shopping Editor Aimee Robinson is a huge fan of The Ordinary and has been using the retinol for over a year. She said: “I love The Ordinary products because not only do they work, they are also affordable. I had done some research into retinol and decided to give The Ordinary Retinol in Squalene Serum a try and haven’t looked back. I only use it once or twice a week as it is quite strong, but have loved the results it has provided as part of my usual night time skincare routine. It can be a little harsh for some skin types, though, so I would recommend testing a small amount of product for a night before using it as part of your skincare routine.”
Hyaluronic acid is another popular anti-ageing ingredient which improves skin elasticity, firmness and hydration.
The L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler serum is slashed to 50% off, reducing it from £31.99 to £15.72 at Amazon.
