Pret A Manger will freeze the price of its coffee subscription at £5 per month rather than increase it to £10 as previously planned.
This means that new and existing Club Pret subscribers will continue to get 50% off up to five barista-made drinks a day for £5 a month.
Previously, the subscription was due to increase to £10 on March 31, 2025.
In an email to Club Pret customers, the coffee chain wrote: “Our Club Pret monthly subscription fee will remain at just £5.
“At Pret, we believe in offering high-quality, organic coffee and Barista-made drinks at fantastic value. With Club Pret, you’ll continue to enjoy great savings on up to five Barista-made drinks per day.”
It added: “Thank you for being part of Club Pret. We love serving you and hope to see you in our shops very soon.”
Pret launched the subscription scheme in September 2020 with a price of £20 a month after sales plummeted during the Covid lockdowns. The subscription initially included five free drinks and a discount on food.
The price gradually increased to £30 a month to account for the rise in “ingredient prices” and VAT.
The price increases were met with widespread criticism from customers, particularly as menu prices got more expensive, which some argued offset the savings.
Pret changed the subscription entirely in September 2024, reducing the price to £5 a month for five half-price barista-made drinks, and entirely removing the discount on food.
This price was meant to last six months before increasing to £10 a month in March 2025, however, it will now remain at £5 for the foreseeable.
