Oceanside police opened a homicide investigation Tuesday after a body was found in a dirt lot that had once been a drive-in theater near the city’s airport.
Just before 12:30 p.m., someone called to report a person who had “obvious traumatic injuries” in a lot on Foussat Road just north of state Route 76, police Lt. Michael Provence said in a news release.
Officers arrived and found a man’s body, Provence said. Detectives from the department’s Crimes of Violence Unit responded and took over the investigation.
“This case remains an active and ongoing homicide investigation,” Provence said.
He said the man’s name is being withheld until his family is notified of his death
Anyone with information regarding the incident was asked to contact police Detective Mark Theriot at 760-435-4378.
