A woman suspected of fatally stabbing her spouse, a Cal Fire captain, in a Ramona home earlier this week had served several years in prison for fatally stabbing her first husband.
A reward has been offered for tips leading to the arrest of 54-year-old Yolanda Marodi, who also goes by Yolanda Olejniczak. She is wanted in connection with the death of her wife, Rebecca Marodi, 49.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon at a home on Rancho Villa Road. They found Rebecca Marodi suffering from multiple stab wounds. She died at the scene.
Sheriff’s officials on Friday asked for public help in finding Yolanda Marodi, who they believe is traveling with a little white dog.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the Sheriff’s Office has alerted authorities on both side of the border about this suspect,” sheriff’s homicide Lt. Michael Krugh said.
Rebecca Marodi was a 20-year veteran of Cal Fire assigned to a station in French Valley in Riverside County. Krugh said family members said the couple had been married two years.
In October 2000, the suspect’s first spouse, 27-year-old James Olejniczak, was found dead in the hallway of his Fontana apartment, according to Riverside Press Enterprise news reports from the time. He had been stabbed in his chest.
Investigators went looking for his estranged wife, Yolanda Olejniczak, and her two young children, who lived in Vista. Olejniczak turned herself later that day.
She was subsequently convicted of voluntary manslaughter and other charges and sentenced to more than 13 years in prison. She was released on parole in 2013, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and was discharged from parole in 2015.
Krugh said investigators believe Olejniczak, now Yolanda Marodi, is driving a silver 2013 Chevrolet Equinox with California license plate 8BQJ420.
San Diego County Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $1,000 for tips leading to her arrest.
Anyone with information about Yolanda Marodi and her whereabouts was asked to call 911 or the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit at (858) 285-6330 during business hours or after hours at (858) 868-3200.
