Chula Vista police are investigating two suspicious deaths after the bodies of a man and woman were found in an apartment Friday afternoon, officials said.
Officers responded to a call of “suspicious circumstances” at a townhouse apartment near Paseo Carina and Viento Estrella, not far from the Chula Vista Elite Athletic Training Center, around 2:30 p.m. Friday, according to Sgt. Anthony Molina. The caller, who lives in the same townhouse community, reported concerns about a specific apartment, such as not seeing the residents for weeks.
Chula Vista police said officers conducted a welfare check at the apartment and found a deceased 57 year old man and 71 year old woman who are believed to be the residents of the home.
The police did not release the names of the victims pending notification of family members, Molina said.
The Chula Vista Police Department Crimes of Violence Unit is investigating the incident. Anyone with information was asked to contact San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or submit an anonymous tip online.
