
Lloyds, Halifax, and the Bank of Scotland are set to close 42 more branches in 2025 as the shift to online banking continues. This move forms part of a broader trend, with thousands of branches already shuttered in recent years. According to consumer group Which?, over 6,200 bank and building society branches have closed since January 2015. On average, this equates to 53 closures every month.
The Lloyds Banking Group, which includes Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, has been a significant contributor to the trend, shutting more than 1,200 branches since 2015.
