A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued 15 migrants on a drifting vessel southwest of San Diego Tuesday.
In the morning, federal officials received a report of a disabled boat adrift and in need of rescue about 60 miles off the San Diego shore, Coast Guard officials said.
A helicopter carrying rescue swimmers reached the boat, and two team members jumped in the water, officials said.
The Coast Guard rescue swimmers helped hoist the group of migrants onto the helicopter, authorities said. The migrants were taken back to shore in two trips.
The migrants were then transferred to U.S. Customs and Border Protection custody.
No injuries were reported.
