A driver was killed early Friday after the vehicle collided with a semi on Interstate 8 and burst into flames, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision was reported just after 1 a.m. on the eastbound freeway, west of College Avenue, CHP said in a release.
A sedan was traveling eastbound when it collided with the semi, drove across lanes and crashed into the center divider.
A BMW then crashed into the sedan, which became engulfed in flames, CHP said.
The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The person’s name was not released.
The incident remains under investigation, but CHP officials said neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash involving the sedan and the BMW.
