A 50-year-old woman was hospitalized Thursday after suffering multiple foot fractures when a San Diego Metropolitan Transit System bus ran over her left foot in El Cerrito.
The incident occurred on University Avenue just west of College Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. The woman was walking down the sidewalk and leaned down to pick up a water bottle that had fallen into the street in front of the parked bus’ rear right tire, San Diego police said.
She fell forward, and another person pulled her back from the path of the bus as it moved forward, but the victim’s left foot was still in the street. The bus driver, 63, ran over her foot, causing multiple fractures and the loss of skin from the ankle down, said Officer Jose Perales.
