Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a person who was found Thursday buried on family property in Valley Center, officials said Friday.
The Sheriff’s Office received a report about 5:45 p.m. Thursday from a person who said a family member had recently died and was buried on the rural property on Paso Robles Road near Fruitvale Road, said Lt. Patrick Fox.
“Upon arrival, deputies located what appeared to be a recently buried grave,” Fox said in a news release.
Due to the suspicious circumstances and no record of the person’s death, the homicide unit opened an investigation, Fox said. The name of the deceased has not been released.
