A man surrendered to deputies Monday afternoon after barricading himself inside a Spring Valley motel room following a stabbing incident, officials said.
Deputies responding to a report of a stabbing in the Casa de Oro area of Spring Valley just after 11 a.m. found a victim with a minor injury to his hand. He was transported to a hospital to be treated, sheriff’s officials said.
A suspect in the stabbing was located but refused to exit a room at a motel on Campo Road near Kenwood Drive.
“Our Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) is on site and talking to the suspect to reach a peaceful conclusion to this situation,” the Sheriff’s Department said on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.
As the incident unfolded, Campo Road was closed at Hollyhock Lane, Rogers Road and Kenwood Drive, and the on-ramp to state Route 94 from Kenwood was also closed.
The suspect surrendered to deputies around 2:45 p.m., said sheriff’s Lt. Michael Pepin.
No other details were immediately released.
