A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed Saturday after he crashed his bike into the back of an SUV in Carslbad, police said.
Witnesses told police the rider was headed south on Carlsbad Boulevard “at a high rate of speed” when he struck the SUV north of Cannon Road, police said.
The rider was thrown onto the roadway and injured. He was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said. His name was not released, pending family notifications.
The SUV driver, a 28-year-old man, was cooperating with investigators, police said.
The cause of the crash was under investigation. Neither drugs nor alcohol was a suspected factor, police said.
