Two men who died in an apparent murder-suicide following an altercation at a San Diego condo high-rise late Saturday have been identified, according to police.
James Earnest Miller, 64, was killed after Robert Morris, 58, stabbed him multiple times in the head and chest around 11:30 p.m. at the complex on Pacific Highway near West Broadway, said Lt. Steve Shebloski. A security guard was also stabbed once in the arm.
Morris fled the scene, Shebloski said. He was found about 8:30 a.m. the next day after police found him in a vehicle with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound off Dairy Mart Road near Vista Lane in San Ysidro.
Detectives said Morris had had a relationship with Miller’s wife and had stayed at the couple’s condo in recent months, the Union-Tribune previously reported. The three of them were out together Saturday evening.
Later that evening, the husband and wife got into an argument over the extramarital affair, Shebloski said. Neighbors called the police.
Miller went to the parking garage to confront Morris while the wife flagged down a security guard at the complex to help.
A fight broke out between Miller and Morris, and the security guard attempted to intervene, police said. Morris allegedly stabbed Miller multiple times and also stabbed the security guard, police said.
The wife was also injured with contusions to her head.
