Chula Vista police detained four juveniles who allegedly were joyriding in a stolen vehicle early Sunday when they crashed into a parked car and rammed a house, a police lieutenant said.
Police were called about 7:30 a.m. by residents who reported that a driver had crashed into a car and hit a house on Steamboat Spring Court north of Olympic Parkway, said police Lt. Scott Adkins. Police had been called about the same motorist who reportedly was driving recklessly in the area.
After the car hit the house, four occupants in the vehicle jumped out and ran away. Some residents chased them and caught two of them, Adkins said. When officers arrived, they were able to located the two remaining juveniles.
Investigators called the registered owner of the car and determined it was an unreported stolen vehicle, Adkins said.
He said the home that was struck was damaged but did not suffer any structural damage. No other information was immediately available.
