ENCINITAS —
A 17-year-old motorcyclist died after veering off a road and striking a telephone pole in Encinitas on Sunday, a sheriff’s official said.
The rider was headed east on Encinitas Boulevard east of Interstate 5 about 8:20 a.m when he crashed, Deputy David Drake said.
Deputies and paramedics tried to save him, but his injuries were too severe, Drake said. The motorcyclist’s name was not released pending notification of family.
The investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information about the crash was asked to call the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station Traffic Division at (760) 966-3500.
