Authorities are investigating after a 27-year-old man was shot in the El Cajon area late Monday, a sheriff’s official said.
Shortly before 10 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on East Bradley, just east of state Route 67, homicide Lt. Joseph Jarura said in a news release. The area is outside the city limits.
Deputies found the victim suffering from gunshots wounds, Jarjura said. Deputies and paramedics tended to him at the scene before he was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries. Jarjura said. He did not know the man’s medical condition.
Homicide detectives sometimes respond to crime scenes and handle the investigation when it’s not clear whether the victim will survive.
Jarjura said the nature of the relationship between the victim and suspect or suspects is unclear. He also said the motivation and circumstances of the shooting are under investigation.
The lieutenant did not provide further details about the incident.
