United Through Reading hosted its 15th annual black-tie fundraiser Oct. 28 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
The Storybook Ball raised more than $150,000 toward supporting deployed service members and their families through the sharing of video-recorded bedtime stories.
The event included remarks by military guest of honor, Rear Adm. Yvette M. Davids, acting commander, Naval Surface Forces, acting commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
The organization presented two awards. The Audrey Geisel Friend of Military Children Award to author and filmmaker, David Barclay Moore for his books of diversity, hope, inclusion, healing and growth. The Military Family Leadership Award was presented to Epsilon Systems for its support of United Through Reading.
