A beauty influencer in her 40s has claimed that a simple make-up trick is the secret to her exceptionally young looks, as revealed in a TikTok clip.
Addressing her audience in a video that amassed upwards of 5,000 likes, @40slifelou asked: “Underpainting make-up for over 40s. Is it a yes or is it a no?”
The 42-year-old went on to admit that she was recently showered with compliments during school after putting the make-up hack to the test.
“Just a disclaimer, when you do use this technique, I can look a little bit alarming during the process – but you have to trust it because it’s amazing,” she disclosed.
During a demonstration of the technique, Lou started by applying primer, followed by a cream contour around her hairline, cheekbones, nose and jawline.

She added: “The key tip with this is to pat, not to blend as such, in the circular motions – just pat it into the skin.”
According to the beauty influencer, the key to natural-looking is a patting motion and it gives makeup the seamless finish that is so widely sought after.
“It takes a little bit of extra time, but it is all worth it,” she added, before moving on to a heavily pigmented blush.
Next on the list of products is a conceal with great coverage, applied under the eyes and at the centre of the forehead as well as underneath the contour line.
“My face is starting to look slightly more normal,” the TikToker disclosed as she finished the look. “That looks absolutely beautiful.”
Lou described the make-up technique as “really, really flawless” as it makes the “skin just look so lovely”.
Fans were quick to shower praises in the comments section. One fan wrote: “Omg beautiful. I’m nearly 50 and I’m looking for something like this for my birthday.”
Another chimed: “Ain’t no way you’re 42!”
While a third person penned: “I so loved watching this video. The make-up was amazing.”
Another follower praised: “Best slightly mature (I’m the same age as you) tutorial I’ve watched. Thank you.”
