An 18-year-old skateboarder received a significant skull fracture and brain bleed when he rode against a red light and was hit by a vehicle near the Linda Vista Skate Park Tuesday night, San Diego police said.
The collision happened shortly after 7:15 p.m. when the man was riding east on Osler Street on the south side of the Genesee Avenue intersection against a red light, police Officer John Buttle said.
A 45-year-old man driving a Chrysler Pacifica south on Genesee had a green light and struck the skateboarder as he crossed Genesee, the officer said.
The impact sent the teen into a Nissan Altima driven by a 25-year-old man who was stopped in a northbound turn lane.
Police said the teen’s injuries were considered life-threatening. No one else was injured.
