A San Diego High School student was stabbed during an altercation near the downtown campus late Monday morning, police and school officials said.
The incident happened about 11:15 a.m. near the school on Park Boulevard, north of A Street, San Diego police said. The call came in as a report of a stabbing.
Police said the victim was 14 or 15 years old and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police were unable to provide information regarding the assailant.
San Diego High School Principal Francisca Del Carmen sent a communication to families of students notifying them an off-campus altercation “that resulted in the injury to one of our students.”
“The San Diego Police Department is actively investigating this incident. Our School Police remain on campus and will continue to support our students and staff,” Del Carmen said.
She also told parents she has asked the staff to review security procedures and meet with school police.
