“Rally for Light:” This Hanukkah rally, hosted by Chabad SDSU, includes the lighting of a 20-foot menorah representing the triumph of light over darkness. Oceanside tree lighting: Santa arrives by firetruck for this annual holiday tree lighting ceremony and gift market in Oceanside. Christmas in the Park: This annual old-fashioned holiday celebration includes caroling, a craft boutique, holiday sweets and warm dinner foods, visits with Santa and horse-drawn hayrides. Jingle Terrace Live: Check out a holiday light show and activities for all ages hosted by the city of Vista and Moonlight Amphitheatre. Special entertainment offered on certain nights, such as Jingle Band concert, holiday crafts, a maker’s market and visits with Santa and reindeer. Oceanside Harbor Parade of Lights: The annual Parade of Lights features boats of all shapes and sizes decorated for the holidays, with lights, ornaments and holiday trimmings. Many of the captains and boat crews dress up in their holiday best, with a few Santas joining in the festive parade. Pacific Beach Santa Run and Holiday Parade: Pacific Beach will become Santa city this Saturday, starting with the annual 5K San Diego Santa Run at 8:30 a.m. Runners will wear matching Santa suits as they take to the streets. A kids’ run and dog run will take place afterward, followed by the Pacific Beach Holiday Parade at noon. The parade runs down Garnet Avenue from Haines Street to Cass Street, and this year, spectators are invited to wear ugly Christmas sweaters. Santa coming on Holiday Express: Catch Santa arriving in style on the holiday train. Escondido Christmas parade and holiday festival: With a theme of Jurassic Christmas, the Jaycees’ Christmas parade will take over downtown Escondido on Saturday. It will start near the post office on Escondido Boulevard and head south, then turn east on Grand Avenue to Juniper Street, north on Juniper to Valley Parkway, west on Valley Parkway to Broadway, north on Broadway, then west on Woodward Avenue. Later in Grape Day Park, a multicultural holiday festival will take place with entertainment, a Santa’s Village, inflatables, shopping, food and more. Mission Bay Parade of Lights: The holiday boat parade takes off at SeaWorld with a fireworks kickoff, then heads west, north and east, ending at The Mission Bay Beach Club. The parade will be set up near Mission Bay hotels and resorts, including Bahia Resort Hotel, Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, The Dana on Mission Bay, Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa, Marina and Paradise Point Resort. San Diego Bay Parade of Lights: Beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10 and Dec. 17, the procession of decorated boats will be arriving off the shore of the San Diego Bay. This year’s theme is “Christmas Traditions Around the World.” The parade takes a little over an hour to pass any given point along the parade route, including Shelter Island (start of parade) at 5:30 p.m., Harbor Island at 6:15 p.m., The Embarcadero at 6:45 p.m., Seaport Village at 7:15 p.m., The Pier at Cesar Chavez Park at 7:30 p.m. and Ferry Landing on Coronado at 7:45 p.m. (Times are approximate).
