A woman was struck by a car and killed while walking on a Santee freeway early Tuesday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision happened about 4:25 a.m. on the freeway transition ramp from northbound state Route 125 to westbound state Route 52, CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said.
He said the woman was walking in the fast lane of the transition ramp when she was struck by a 2003 BMW 330I sedan.
The woman died at the scene. She has not been identified, the officer said.
The BMW driver, a 37-year-old resident of Santee, was not injured. Grieshaber said neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been a factor on the driver’s part.
The incident remains under investigation.
