A 42-year-old woman was fatally stabbed Tuesday night in San Marcos, and a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the case, officials said.
Deputies responded to North Twin Oaks Valley Road just north of state Route 78 around 10:20 p.m. and found the victim suffering from a stab wound.
Paramedics rendered medical aid and transported her to a hospital, but she died, said sheriff’s Lt. Joseph Jarjura.
The victim’s name was not released.
Jarjura said deputies detained Ziyah Jay Patterson at the location of the stabbing. He was arrested and is being held without bail in the Vista jail.
Authorities didn’t say what may have led up to the stabbing. Jarjura said the suspect and victim knew each other.
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the case and gathering evidence.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call homicide investigators at (858) 285-6330 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
