A girlfriend has taken to Reddit to seek advice on a situation involving her partner’s ex-wife, who she claims is due to move into the pair’s flat in less than a week.
Writing on the popular forum website, she said: “My partner and I have been together for five years. He is still close with his ex-wife and they share a teenager. She is constantly around and I have said that I wish we could have better boundaries.
“He just says that is how she is and I need to deal [with it]. My issue is not her coming over but doing it unannounced.”
Elaborating, the poster said that tensions in her relationship erupted after her partner revealed that the ex-wife would be moving in, having previously left town to take care of her sick mother.
She continued: “Now that she is coming back in less than a week, I finally find out she is staying with us indefinitely and has not talked to her friend. I only found this out because I pushed to get an answer.
“Apparently, she just decided she is staying with us and didn’t ask him either but told him.”
The frustrated female, however, had doubts about her partner’s intentions. She claimed: “I felt like I was being lied to by weird cryptic comments he would make to her on the phone.
“My partner is treating me like a jerk because I am upset that we didn’t have a conversation about this.”
She went on to explain that they already have three children and a dog living in the house, leaving little room for another housemate
Commenters were united in their support for the woman, unanimously blaming her partner for the situation.
One wrote: “You need to leave this ‘relationship’. You’re the other woman. And you’re about to become maid to your partner’s ex.”
Another added: “These two are still in love and you are the third wheel.”
Some even urged the woman to take legal action.
A Redditor wrote: “Go talk to a lawyer now. Your marriage has been over for a while. He is the one that needs to leave. The absolute gall of the ex to say she is moving in without even discussing it with you and your husband not backing you up is intolerable. Lawyer! Now!”
