Two people suspected in a hot prowl burglary in Harmony Grove were arrested after deputies pulled over a car Saturday evening, officials said.
A resident called 911 to report people were breaking into his or her home on Gait Way near Harmony Grove around 8 p.m. The burglars gained entry by breaking a sliding glass door, said sheriff’s Detective David Arnold.
The 911 caller reported hearing noise downstairs in the home from an upstairs bedroom, Arnold said. The resident later found the glass back door had been shattered.
The burglars ran from the home before deputies arrived. They got into a nearby getaway car and sped off, officials said.
A sheriff’s helicopter tracked the vehicle and deputies on the ground were pulled over a car.
Two men inside the vehicle got out and ran through brush and into a ravine. Deputies found and arrested a 40-year-old man but a second suspect got away.
Deputies also arrested a 21-year-old woman who had remained inside the car they pulled over.
The two were booked into county jail on suspicion of residential burglary, conspiracy and obstructing/resisting a police officer, according to online records. The man is facing an additional charge because he was out on bail at the time of the incident.
Stolen items were recovered from inside the car, sheriff’s officials said.
Investigators asked anyone with information about the incident to call the sheriff’s department at (858) 565-5200.
