Adele has announced she will be playing a string of shows in Munich, Germany this summer shortly after the UEFA Euro 2024. Sharing the news with her 56 million Instagram followers on Wednesday, the 35-year-old wrote: “So a few months ago I got a call about a summer run of shows. I’ve been content as anything with my shows in London’s Hyde Park and my residency in [Las] Vegas, so I hadn’t had any other plans.
“However, I was too curious to not follow up and indulge in this idea – a one off, bespoke pop-up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on? Ohh!? Pretty much slap bang in the middle of Europe? In Munich? That’s a bit random, but still fabulous! Right after the Euros?
“Come on England! With the Olympics next door? Go on Simone! And some of my favourite artists playing shows too? Why…YES!!” Adele went on to say she hadn’t played a show in Europe since 2016, so “couldn’t think of a more wonderful way” to spend her summer and “end this beautiful phase of my life and career with shows closer to home during such an exciting summer”.
She signed off her post, writing: “Guten Tag babes x.” Many of Adele’s fans flocked to the comments section to express their excitement, as one wrote: “Well trip to Germany is it.”
A second commented: “Omg Germany y’all are about to see me AGAIN.” A third typed: “Hallo Adele!! See you there!!” Others were left disappointed with the announcement, due to the location.
A fourth typed: “Adele you need to come to Canada omg.” Another asked: “What about Asia?”
A sixth added: “Not us thinking we would get a tour and it’s literally one place.”
Adele’s four shows will take place on 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th August in an open-air arena that has been exclusively created for the occasion.
The venue will feature a combination of seated grandstands and standing areas with capacity for 80,000 people per night.
The singer, who is based in America, launched her Las Vegas residency Weekends with Adele in November 2022 and the residency is currently scheduled to end on June 15.
As she announced her final dates in October, she wrote: “This residency, these shows have changed my life.
“I desperately needed to fall back in love with performing live again, and I have.
“I needed to reconnect with my songs and remember what they mean to me, and I have!”
Adele went on to say being “up close and personal with an audience” again after so many years had been “a truly extraordinary restorative experience” that she’ll never forget.
“All the hilarious, soulful, wild and heartbreaking interactions we’ve had are banked in my mind for life.
“It’s crazy how joyful a show full of sad songs can be!! I’ve felt so much and learned so much about myself and you. It’s humanized everything I thought was scary.”
According to The Sun, Adele is also in advanced talks to perform in London later this year, however this is yet to be confirmed.
The Rumour has It hitmaker last performed in Hyde Park, London, back in 2022.
