DETROIT— Marty C. Raybon has been named director of field operations (DFO) for U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Detroit Field Office.
In his new capacity as director, he will lead a workforce of more than 1,600 employees and will be responsible for anti-terrorism policies and operations, cargo and traveler operations, agricultural inspections, and trade enforcement and facilitation at ports of entry throughout Michigan in land border, airport, rail, and maritime environments.
Major ports of entry under his purview include the Ambassador Bridge, the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, Detroit Metropolitan Airport, the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge, and the forthcoming Gordie Howe International Bridge. The Ambassador Bridge accounts for nearly a third of all commercial traffic between Canada and the U.S. and is the second busiest land border crossing in the nation.
Prior to his current assignment, Director Raybon served as the executive director for CBP’s National Targeting Center in Sterling, Va., where he oversaw the advanced targeting and analysis of emerging threats and facilitated counter-network collaboration efforts with federal, state, local, and international partners, throughout the country and abroad.
Director Raybon began his career in federal law enforcement as a canine enforcement officer with the U.S. Customs Service in 1999 on the southwest border. He has served as port director of the Port of New York/Newark, where he led more than 1,000 employees and oversaw air, sea, and rail operations at one of the busiest and most diverse ports of entry in the United States. He has also served as acting DFO, New York Field Office; acting DFO, Detroit Field Office; acting deputy executive director, Planning, Program Analysis, and Evaluation at Office of Field Operations Headquarters; and assistant director, Tactical Operations, at the National Targeting Center.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Wayland Baptist University and is a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
