Authorities have publicly identified a 35-year-old man who died last weekend in a motorcycle crash involving a suspected DUI driver in the Ridgeview/Webster neighborhood.
Derek Grover II of San Diego was riding his Harley-Davidson southbound on Euclid Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a northbound GMC Sierra made a left turn directly in his path at Lyon Street, just north of state Route 94, according to police and the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
Grover was ejected from the bike as a result of the collision.
Paramedics took him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest, where he was pronounced dead.
The 58-year-old driver of the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
