San Diego police on Thursday released a sketch of a man suspected of falsely claiming to be an officer and trying to lure children to his vehicle last month.
The incident happened March 11 around 10 a.m. at Keiller Park on Woodrow Avenue in the Skyline community.
The man approached two children, ages 9 and 12, told them he was a police officer and tried to lure the kids to his vehicle to take photos of them, San Diego police Detective David Kean said in a news release.
The children didn’t follow the man and told an adult who called police, Kean said. The man, last seen headed east on Lisbon Street, was described as being Latino, in his late 20s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a thin to medium build and black hair. He was wearing a blue T-shirt with white, horizontal stripes, black pants and white shoes.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact Kean at (619) 527-3552 or dkean@pd.sandiego.gov.
