A 61-year-old woman walking along the shoulder of a Pine Valley road was killed when she was struck by a pickup truck Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred about 11 a.m. on Pine Boulevard south of Rocky Pass in a residential area.
The driver of a Ford F-550 was driving north on Pine when for unknown reasons the truck veered onto the right shoulder and struck the pedestrian, CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said.
The name of woman, a Pine Valley resident, has not been released pending notification of family.
Authorities said it did not appear that the 36-year-old driver, also a Pine Valley resident, was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
