Addison, the Michelin three star restaurant in San Diego’s Carmel Valley, has earned a stellar ranking in La Liste’s annual ranking of the world’s 1,000 best restaurants for 2024.
Restaurants were ranked by an aggregate score, with seven restaurants around the globe earning the top score of 99.5 out of 1000. By that measure, Addison joins 31 other restaurants in the 6th place tier, with a score of 97 points.
Addison’s ranking climbed from 95.5 in the 2023 list. Addison is also the highest-ranked restaurant in Southern California and the only San Diego restaurant to make the top 1,000.
Only five other United States restaurants scored higher than Addison on the list: Le Bernardin (tied for first with 99.5 points); SingleThread in Healdsburg with 99; The French Laundry in Yountville with 98.5; Daniel in New York with 98; Atelier Crenn in San Francisco with 97.5; Atomix in New York with 97.5; and The Inn at Little Washington in Washington, D.C., with 97.5. Other U.S. restaurants that shared a 97-point score with Addison are Harbor House in Elk, California and Saison in San Francisco.
The rankings are based on an aggregate of scores in respected international guidebooks, grades submitted by several thousand chefs around the world, customer reviews and more. American restaurants made up 105 of the 1,000 restaurants in the 2024 list, behind France with 107, China with 122 and Japan with 140.
The top seven restaurants in the world, based on their shared 99.5 score, are Le Bernardin; L’Enclume – Simon Rogan in the U.K.; Guy Savoy in France; La Vague d’Or in France; Schwarzwaldstube in Germany; Lung King Heen in China; and Sushi Saito in Japan.
