
A 31-year-old man detectives suspect shot another man in Valley Center has been charged with murder after the victim died at a hospital Monday evening, according to sheriff’s officials.
Kyle Del Gregory was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a shooting Friday afternoon on the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians reservation, said Lt. Joseph Jarjura in a news release.
Officers arrived at Mendoza Road near Valley Center Road around 1 p.m. and found Jason Gillespie, 46, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital by helicopter.
Gregory was arrested at the scene, and a rifle was recovered nearby.
Gillespie died from his injuries three days after the shooting, Jarjura said. Detectives said Gregory is now charged with murder.
