This week Andrea Bocelli made his debut at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile, one of the oldest and largest music festivals in Latin America.
The Italian tenor received Golden and Silver Gaviota Awards at the event and performed with over 110 musicians on stage in a two hour show that included his son Matteo Bocelli.
One of the songs he sang solo on the second night of the festival was Bésame Mucho, which is a bolero song penned in 1932 by Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velázquez.
The track is considered one of the most popular songs of the 20th century and one of the most important in Latin music history.
Bocelli’s fans took to the comments of his Instagram post to praise the maestro’s performance.
One of the most liked comments read: “Great teacher. You’re from another planet, I’ve seen the concert about a thousand times and I can’t get tired of it. Arrived just at the moment when Chile most needed peace of mind and uniting hearts. Thank you Andre Bocelli, there are no words to continue genius.
Another added: “The best of the festival. Come back soon to Chile please!!!! A true teacher of music
