Authorities said Friday that a tip from the public helped them identify a woman found dead in the brush along a Santee creek after torrential rains and flooding last month.
The woman was identified as Faith Angle, 46, according county officials, who said she was experiencing homelessness when she died.
Angle was found along Forester Creek just west of Cuyamaca Street, on Jan. 22, when a powerful storm slammed the region. County officials are investigating her death as storm-related but have stopped short of specifically saying whether she was swept up in swift water or flooding.
Investigators could not identify her by her fingerprints. Three weeks ago, the Medical Examiner’s Office released a sketch of the woman and photos of her jewelry, in hopes of learning her name.
County officials did not say when the person who provided her name came forward.
Angle was one of three people who have been found dead along Forester Creek after storms started pounded the region Jan. 22.
The storms and swift waters were also linked to the death of a 61-year-old West African man who drowned in the Tijuana River while trying to enter the United States. A 67-year-old man died Jan. 22 when his car crashed into debris that flooding left in the middle of a Lemon Grove road.
