High street health and beauty retailer Boots is closed two of its stores earlier this month, with its Uppingham Road, Leicester, and Glastonbury locations shutting for good.
The pharmacy giant plans to reduce the number of stores from 2,200 to 1,900 in a move bosses believe will help “consolidate the business”.
The Uppingham Road, Leicester, and Glastonbury locations closed their doors on October 13. Staff affected by the closures have been offered “alternative roles” at other stores, according to a Boots spokesperson.
It takes the total number of Boots closures in October to four. Two more shops (Kings Square, York and Warminster) also closed their doors on October 28.
Closures are expected to continue into 2024. The retailer still has more than 2,100 health and beauty stores across the UK and has claimed that around 85 percent of the UK population lives within 10 minutes of one of its branches. A spokesperson said the store closures were about removing overlapping branches. But which branches are set to close in November?
