British Gas has announced another half-price energy event for eligible customers tomorrow (December 31), offering savings on their bills while supporting greener energy usage.
The Green Flex event will run between 11am and 1pm, taking advantage of windy conditions that increase the availability of renewable energy.
With PeakSave Green Flex events, customers benefit from half-price electricity during periods of high renewable energy supply.
British Gas uses its own forecasting to schedule these events, testing the potential impact on the grid and customer savings.
Eligible customers were emailed today (December 30) to opt in for tomorrow’s event. The discount is available to both new and existing PeakSave customers, with savings credited directly to their energy bills.
There is no obligation to change daily routines, but shifting energy-intensive activities – such as washing, cleaning, or cooking – to the designated times can boost savings.
Additionally, all PeakSave customers receive half-price electricity every Sunday without needing to opt in.
The PeakSave initiative, launched by British Gas, aims to encourage better energy usage and support a greener energy supply.
Since its launch, British Gas reports that over 600,000 customers have saved £11million through the scheme.
These efforts have also reduced carbon emissions by 326 tonnes and shifted 11,799 MWh of electricity to Sundays.
To participate in PeakSave events, households must be British Gas customers with a smart meter and register their interest in the scheme.
Customers can book a free smart meter with half-hourly data and sign up via the British Gas website here.
