NORTH COUNTY —
A wildfire at Camp Pendleton has reached 2,500 acres, and a smoke advisory has been issued, base officials said Wednesday afternoon.
The fire started in the Whiskey Impact Area on the sprawling base and spread to the Quebec Impact Area, a Marine Corps official said.
A base spokesperson did not say how much of the fire, if any, was contained.
Base officials posted information about the fire on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. The posting noted that the Camp Pendleton Fire Department was on scene and monitoring the fire.
It also noted that while smoke was visible, the fire was not threatening any structures.
