Carlsbad police are investigating after two people were wounded in a possible car-to-car shooting Wednesday night that may be gang related.
Several people called 911 to report a crash on Alga Road between El Fuerte Street and Xana Way around 9:20 p.m. Callers also reported hearing gunfire, police said.
Officers found a car that had crashed into an embankment with a man inside suffering from a gunshot wound, said police Lt. Eric Kovanda. Police and paramedics rendered medical aid and transported the victim to a hospital.
Police said two other people who had been in the car during the shooting had walked away from the vehicle, including one who had been shot, Kovanda said. The two turned up later at a hospital.
Investigators believe the car was fired upon from a second vehicle.
None of the injuries were considered life threatening. Kovanda said the three men who had been in the car were between the ages of 19 and 23. None were Carlsbad residents.
