A woman has been left heartbroken after discovering her boyfriend has been cheating on her – having heard all about it from his pet parrot.
The 25-year-old explained how her boyfriend’s parrot, named Percy, was repeatedly saying another woman’s name and “shrieking about loving” her.
While she doesn’t know whether to trust the parrot wholeheartedly, she got a ‘gut feeling’ about the situation after seeing her boyfriend’s reaction to his pet’s outburst.
Taking to Reddit, she said: “I’ve found myself entangled in the most peculiar and perplexing situation.
“Picture this: during a family gathering at my boyfriend’s parents’ place, their parrot, Percy, inadvertently spills the beans about a delicate matter – it seems Percy has learned about an alleged affair involving my boyfriend.

“Throughout the night, Percy kept shrieking about him loving another woman named Jess, and that’s not my name. I asked my boyfriend what the bird was talking about and he just laughed it off calling it a crazy and funny bird.
“However, as the night went on, I noticed my boyfriend nervously checking his phone and always leaving it face down, which he never does. In fact, he used to let me use it occasionally but now [he doesn’t].”
Wanting answers, she asked her boyfriend, 26, outright, saying “Who’s Jess?’. In response, he allegedly blew up at her and started calling her “insecure”.
She went onto claim: “I doubled down, mentioning how he’s been acting avoidant all night, but he just got angrier. His parents tried to intervene and calm us both down, but he got angry with them too! I left alone and went home without him and haven’t spoken to him since last night.”
Confused, she asked Reddit users: “Am I being insecure? I just don’t know what to do because I tried to get the truth and it failed me!”
Commenting on her post, one user said: “When my ex suddenly changed his lock screen code on his phone and suddenly took it to the bathroom with him or [left it] upside down hiding the screen from me.
“He wasn’t cheating but I found out he was slagging me off to his friends, calling me a B word and such. So even if it’s not cheating. It just doesn’t bode well!! I’d let him go.”
Another user added: “The bird doesn’t like how much time you’ve spent with him, so he is conspiring to break you up! Kidding.”
Another wrote: “Clearly, that name has hit a nerve, and his response is so out of sorts that even his parents think he’s overreacting. That’s a big indicator of guilt.
“Only you can say how you should respond. Investigate, break up, ignore it… all choices but up to you. Judging by his immature reaction, I’d talk to his parents and make sure he doesn’t hurt the bird.”
A third person commented: “Depends on what kind of parrot and how fast they learn, I guess. My parents had a mealy Amazon who would still call for my stepdad’s grandson when he was hungry because the grandson was always the person who fed him.
“Parrot had been with my parents for like 10 years. But, your boyfriend’s behaviour is suspicious.”
