Investigators are searching for multiple vehicles they believe were involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Spring Valley on Sunday, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The crash occurred around 5:10 a.m. when a pedestrian was struck on Sweetwater Road near Blossom Lane, Officer Jared Grieshaber said. After being hit by the first vehicle, the pedestrian was struck by additional vehicles.
The pedestrian died before he or she could be taken to a hospital. The pedestrian’s identity will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
The first vehicle and some of the others involved left the scene before CHP officers arrived, Grieshaber said.
One of the vehicles was described as 2013-2018 Ram 1500 pickup truck with damage to its left side and/or front, Grieshaber said. It is also missing its driver’s side mirror.
No other vehicle descriptions were immediately available.
