Chula Vista police are asking people who attended a large party where a 14-year-old was shot multiple times Saturday night to come forward with information or provide them with video of the incident.
Police said the teen was leaving the party on West Manor Drive north of J Street and west of Broadway with a friend shortly after 9:20 p.m.when they were confronted by two unknown people and got into an altercation. One of the assailants pulled a gun and fired, hitting the boy several times, police said.
The pair fled the area. No one else was injured.
Police found the teen on the ground and rendered medical aid before paramedics arrived. The victim’s gunshot wounds were considered non-life threatening, and he was reported to be stable on Monday, police spokesperson Sgt. Anthony Molina said.
“When the shooting happened the people who were calling in said, ‘Yeah, there’s people leaving, people in vehicles, people are leaving,’” Molina said. “We definitely anticipate there were a lot of people who left prior to officers arriving.”
The shooter has not been identified and no description was released.
Molina said witnesses could help police identify suspects in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or submit a tip via the P3tips app or online if they wish to remain anonymous.
