A masked robbery suspect fired a gun into the door of a Chula Vista home early Sunday after a resident thwarted an attempted home invasion, police said. No one was hurt.
The incident was reported around 2:20 a.m. at a home on Pershing Road near Mason Road, according to Chula Vista police.
Three people wearing masks entered the home through a partially opened garage door while a fourth person waited in a car, Lt. Scott Adkins said. At least one of the intruders was armed with a firearm.
One of the would-be robbers broke down a garage door leading into the house. A 24-year-old resident confronted him or her and pushed them back out the door and closed it, Adkins said.
The resident was holding the door shut when one of the suspects shot once, striking the door but leaving the resident uninjured.
The four fled in the waiting vehicle, which was described as a silver two-door sedan. No other information was immediately available.
