As well as being a popular addition to salad dressings and marinades, this common kitchen condiment is being lauded for its health benefits, and also cleaning abilities.
Apple cider vinegar can help to banish unwanted smells in cars, according to car experts.
Graham Conway, of UK vehicle lease firm Select Car Leasing, said: “The idea is to take a shallow bowl full of apple cider vinegar and to simply leave it in your car overnight to let it work its magic.
“It’s said to absorb bad smells without you even having to clean or scrub.
“The suggested science behind this hassle-free hack is that acetic acid molecules in the vinegar bond with foul-smelling compounds in the air and act as a powerful deodoriser.

“The smell could be coming from a leak in your vehicle where water has accumulated.
“The rubber seals on your windows, windscreen doors, bonnet and boot are all problem areas where you might get water ingress. And it’s something you’ll want to rectify as promptly as you can to prevent permanent damage.”
Another way to get bad aromas from your car is to fill a discarded – but clean – plastic takeaway box and fill it full of bicarbonate soda before punching lots of holes into the lid.
Like apple cider vinegar, the baking soda’s absorbent structure, as a mild alkaline, helps to soak up foul odours.
