A 21-year-old driver and his 13-year-old passenger were killed Thursday in a collision with another vehicle in Ramona, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver, a Ramona resident, was in a Toyota Scion TC westbound on San Vicente Road, east of Wildcat Canyon Road, about 4:45 p.m. before the crash occurred, CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said. A boy was seated in the right front passenger seat.
For unknown reasons, the man drove over the painted double yellow lines into oncoming traffic and collided with an eastbound Dodge Durango, Grieshaber said.
The man and the boy died at the scene, Grieshaber said. Their names were not released pending notification of family.
The 61-year-old Ramona woman driving the Dodge was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, he said. At the time of the crash, the road was wet from rain, although it was not known if the crash was weather-related.
The CHP was investigating the crash.
